Ebonyi State Government has expressed its determination to partnering the Westgate technology to enhancing electronic governance and equipping government officials to adapt to the changing world of Information and Communication Technology to remain relevant to the new order.
Governor David Nweze Umahi stated this during the grand opening ceremony of Westgate Nigeria in Abakaliki.
The Governor, represented by the deputy, Dr. Kelechi Igwe stressed the importance of information and communication technology to performing government functions, reducing bulky processes, saving and retrieving of data in a more efficient and effective manner.
He explained that the dynamic world of ICT has dismantled trade barriers, promoted globalization and businesses in the service sector like shipping and aviation, thus reducing the world to a global village and described Ebonyi State as investment friendly.
The Chairman, Westgate Nigeria Mr. Cashimar Eze-Udu said Ebonyi State has impacted positively into his life, describing it as a payback time, adding that Westgate has quality equipment in the area of computer accessories, that would train, equip and add value to Ebonyi people,.
The Managing Director, Westgate technology, Mr. Efe Isibor said Westgate was committed to partnering the state government towards promoting education, job creation and would train one thousand students of Ebonyi State in various skilled areas of computer to become self reliant.
Mr. Tolu Lawani, representative of HP Computers and Mr. Kayo Ogunude, representative of Canon technologies as partners of Westgate Nigeria said the offer high quality computers at a discount rate, adding that their technologies will improve government business in Ebonyi State.
The event which featured inspection of laptops, mobile phones, scanners, cameras and monitors attracted top government functionaries, Captains of industry, students and people from all walks of life.
